“Is this strategy doing more, or am I just paying more?”
Budget comparisons help separate the effect of a strategy from the effect of committing additional cash.
Our story
Havenstone Finance creates practical tools to help everyday households understand their financial options.
From personal planning to practical tools
Our founder is an aerospace and systems engineer working on NASA projects. He began building these spreadsheets for his own use: to explore ways to pay off his mortgage and debt faster, while understanding the costs and tradeoffs.
Velocity banking was one of the questions that started it. The idea sounded interesting, but understanding whether it made sense required more than a headline about paying off a mortgage early. It meant looking at the credit-line balance, the interest assumptions, and what the same money could do as direct extra payments.
Existing explanations and tools did not always answer the questions he wanted to ask. Some reviews described products that did not meaningfully model velocity banking at all. Rather than take the strategy at face value, he built a way to examine it.
Havenstone grew from that approach: define the question, enter realistic assumptions, compare alternatives, and read the limitations alongside the result. His engineering background informs that approach; it is not a financial-advisory qualification. Havenstone Finance is an independent business, not affiliated with or endorsed by NASA.
What these tools help untangle
Budget comparisons help separate the effect of a strategy from the effect of committing additional cash.
The refinance tool brings closing costs, loan terms, and your expected time in the loan into the comparison.
Reserve targets and savings allocations help surface competing priorities. Separate workbooks make it important to keep your shared budget consistent.
Every spreadsheet comes with a companion guide. Editable inputs let you test your own assumptions, and protected formulas help prevent accidental changes. Detailed schedules and stated forecast limits give the outputs context.
We do not promise a particular payoff date or savings result. We make tools for exploring decisions, not personalized recommendations about which financial strategy you should follow.
